Romania’s natural gas reserve – 0.3 percent of the global reserve in 2008

Romania’s total proved natural gas reserve stood at 630 billion cubic metres in end-2008, that is 0.3 percent of the global reserve, according to data centralized by British Petroleum.

In end-2008, Romania’s proved reserve of natural gas were estimated at 360 billion cubic
metres.

Romania ranks thus 9th in Europe and Eurasia, after Russia, ranking 1st, with 43.30 trillion cubic metres, Norway, 2.91 trillion cubic metres and Kazakhstan, 1.82 trillion cubic metres.

British Petroleum (BP) estimated the world’s reserve at 185.02 trillion cubic metres.

With regards to Romania’s natural gas production, BP recorded 11.5 billion cubic metres in 2008, a loss by 0.3 percent on 2007, while consumption stood at 14.5 billion, a slump by 9.8 percent against 2007.
