„We do not want CNH to be a millstone round the neck of the future national energy company.
We will have to think of a restructuring process so that CNH be able to contribute to the development of the future integrated energy company,” said the Minister of Economy.
Adriean Videanu mentioned that the Economy Ministry is willing to support the restructuring of CNH, as well as the investments required for rendering efficient the activity in the Jiu Valley coal mines.
In his turn, CNH Petrosani director general Constantin Jujan said that several variants were worked out for the company’s restructuring, which also provide potential layoffs starting 2010.
A final decision on the variant that will be implemented will be taken on September 15, after which talks with the trade unions will follow.
‘The restructuring program does not provide mine closures,’ said the CNH Petrosani director general, who estimates that the development of underground activities requires 28 million euros in investments.
According to Minister Videanu, the normative act regulating the establishment of the two integrated energy holdings might be finalized by the end of September, given that the public debate on this move was due to end on August 15.
Talks with the management and trade unions of the companies included in this project are scheduled for next week, and the final public debate on this issue is planned for September 6 – 10.
