‘The most important thing at this meeting is that we have managed to sign the first two projects for the promotion of tourist destinations by means of the European funds’, said Udrea, who signed the documents at Rasnov Fortress.
‘The money that the European Union allots to the promotion of the Romanian tourist destinations via the Tourism Ministry by 2013 totals 55 million euros.
It would be a shame not to use this money for the promotion of Romania, for the promotion of our tourist products and the wonderful tourist destinations we have’, the minister stressed.
She cited among the projects aimed at the development of tourism in the mountains the Skiing in Romania project, by which the tourism ministry assigns the local public authorities funds for the development of the major tourist infrastructure, given that in 2013 the European Youth’s Olympic Festival will be held in Brasov, Predeal Rasnov, Busteni and Sinaia and the tourist infrastructure should be in place by then.
Each of the two projects signed on Tuesday amounts to one million le i, of which 2 percent is the contribution of the beneficiary public local authorities.
The first project will promote the Rasnov Fortress, the Old Romanian Church, Rasnov Museum and the Evangelical Church as well as the local customs and traditions.
The second one aims at the development of tourism in Prahova Valley (north of Bucharest) and in Rasnov-Bran area (central Romania).
