Udrea commission to notify relevant institutions of tourism ministry officials’ refusal to be heard
‘They were subpoenaed three consecutive times and therefore I can tell you we’ll notify the relevant institutions as they should be responsible before the law in the same way that anyone of us must be’, the Social Democrat deputy said.
When asked which are the institutions he is going to notify, Banicioiu explained that he must ask for an opinion of the judicial commission in the Deputies’ Chamber to decide where possible complaints would be filed.
‘The law is very clear. Any person that is subpoenaed by an investigating commission must attend,’ he added.
Although Wednesday’s agenda of the commission included the hearing of general secretary at the Tourism Ministry Gheorghe Nastasia, of the ministry’s communication director Ana Maria Toma, of development director Octavian Arsene and of the computer expert who posted the ministry acquisition procedures on the institution’s Web page, they failed to attend.
The commission vice-chairman announced that the Tourism Ministry had sent less than half the documents required by the commission and he explained such documents should be first registered at the Deputies’ Chamber registration office, otherwise they are not taken into consideration.
