Electonic system designed to combat multiple voting, not to applied during presidential elections

The Romanian Government discussed about the the draft Emergency ordinance that changes the law on president’s election, Govt spokesperson Ioana Muntean announced Wednesday after the Government meeting.

„PM Emil Boc said that the new regulations would not bring any changes as regards expressing the electoral rights, but only a series of technical changes regarding the polling stations’ organization and the voting’s unfolding,” he explained.

According to Muntean, a final decision will be taken in the Government meeting on Saturday. She also said that the electronic system for the combating of the multiple voting would not apply, at least not during the elections this fall.

„The Executive believes that more time is needed to implement such comprehensive program, but all necessary measures will be taken to avoid electoral fraud,” Muntean explained.
