Romania’s Ministry of Justice and Citizens’ Liberties (MJLC) had confirmed on this Aug. 12 that the Austrian authorities had arrested Tcaciuc with a view to handing him over to Romania.
A release sent specifies that Austria’s Federal Ministry of Justice informed MJLC that the Austrian judiciary authorities arrested the Romanian citizen Severin Tcaciuc, on Aug. 11, 2009, and he would be delivered to the Romanian authorities through extradition procedures.
According to the quoted source, over 2004- 2006, MJLC was asking the Austrian authorities to extradite Tcaciuc with a view to put into execution several warrants, that the Law Court of Suceava and the Law Court of Bistrita had issued for him, and to enact a warrant of remanding custody respectively.
Interior Minister Dan Nica announced on Aug. 12 that the Romanian businessman Severin Tcaciuc arrested in Austria would be fetched to Romania.
‘He has been detained in Austria based on the international warrant of arrest, and the Austrian authorities are keeping him in custody and he is to come to Romania next week,’ Minister Nica told a news conference on the occasion.
The Austrian authorities announced Interpol Bucharest that the 50-year old Romanian citizen Severin Tcaciuc, internationally wanted since 2004, was arrested on August 11, the Romanian Police informed.
Several warrants, of fraud, fiscal evasion and offense were issued for him, the same source said.
