The best three contesters will each receive one of the three trophies.
Weighing in at almost 2 kg and with a height of 32 cm, each trophy was crafted by visual artists Ionel Istoc of gold-coated, silver-coated bronze and simple bronze, respectively. Beside the three trophies, there will also be a Special Prize of the Jury and a Public’s Prize, all consisting of plaques.
A prize for excellence will be awarded to famous guitarist Steve Vai for his entire career. Steve Vai is scheduled to stage a concert on September 6.
Ionel Istoc is a member of the Union of Romanian Visual Artists and a doctoral student of the Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism since 2007.
He won the national contest in 2004 held by TVR and the Union of Visual Artists for the trophies of the Golden Stag International Competitive Song Festival.
The 2009 edition of the festival, to be held September 2-7 in the Sfatului Square of Brasov, will welcome 25 contestants from 18 countries.
A TV show to be produced outside the scope of the festival will attempt an impressive excursion through the history of modern music.
This year’s edition of the festival will comprise six themed evenings.
Among the world’s stars invited to the festival are Hot Chocolate, Steve Vai and Tiziano Ferro. Romanian singers and bands, including Sistem, Directia 5, Avma, Holograf and Loredna will also be staging shows.
