„For the correct information of mass media and of the public opinion we hereby specify that Mr. Mircea Basescu has no connection whatsoever with the commercial contract for the dismantling of Taiwanese ammunition, as journalist Sorin Rosca Stanescu erroneously suggested.
We also mention that the respective contract unwound among companies Maxam Bulgaria, Oxo Network Corporation Ltd. and the Babeni Mechanical Factory,” said the release.
Oxo Network adds that all conducted activities were legal and in compliance with national and international regulations.
„The procedures applied during the technical tasks involved by the transport and dismantling of ammunition were in compliance with national and international regulations and were overseen by all state institutions with relevant legal competence.
All activities were perfectly legal and in accordance with practice, national and international rules. We hereby dismiss ungrounded speculation aimed at forging a connection between this commercial contract and Mr. Mircea Basescu,’ company representatives mentioned.
In a posting on his blog, journalist Sorin Rosca Stanescu claimed on Monday that President of Romania’s brother would have participated in an international operation of trafficking of huge amounts of explosives.
According to the journalist, five ships from Taiwan loaded with ammunition and explosive substances allegedly docked early this year in the port of Constanta and Mircea Basescu would have seen to the ships’ unloading.
