The government will start on September 2 the procedure for assuming responsibility in Parliament for the law packages on the uniform pay scheme, education and anti-crisis measures, vice-Premier Dan Nica said on Monday.

According to Nica, the procedure for the education legislative package should be completed at the end of September or in early October.

„The Prime Minister informed us that the law package presented by incumbent Minister Andronescu is the one the government intends to assume responsibility for,” said Dan Nica, after the meeting of the ruling coalition.

The vice-Premier added that most provisions are set forth in the Education Code version presented on August 14, to which additions were made from the Education Pact proposed by the presidential commission and the governing program.

Nica also announced that the education law package might still undergo changes during the parliamentary debates, as the Senators and deputies will be able to table amendments.

According to Nica, at the end of the coalition meeting, the Prime Minister announced his intention to send Parliament on September 2 written notification of the government’s assuming responsibility for the three law packages.

„The Standing Bureaus will establish the stages so that all lawmakers who want to propose amendments to have the necessary time. From our point of view this requires a longer than usual time.

September is probably the month when the process should be completed, or early October at the latest,” said Nica.

Referring to the uniform pay scheme, Nica said that talks are underway with trade unions in the judiciary and education, so as to shape it into a predictable and fair system.
