President Basescu aims to address Parliament on Sept. 14

President Traian Basescu sent a letter to the chairmen of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, Mircea Geoana and Roberta Anastase respectively in which he announced his intention to address Parliament on Sept. 14, the presidential administration informs.

‘Pursuant to art. 88 and art. 65, paragraph 2, a) from the Romanian Constitution and art. 1 of the Regulation on joint meetings of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, I inform you that I would like to convey a message to the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate regarding the main political issues of the nation,’ reads the letter, stressing that given the conditions of the working agenda, the head of the state proposes the date of Sept. 14, 2009 at an hour established by the presidents of the Romanian Parliament’s two chambers.

President Traian Basescu addressed parliament on April 14, when he tackled issues pertaining to the situation of the Republic of Moldova. The head of the state also addressed the plenary session of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies on March 9, when he referred to economic issues and the possibility for Romania’s contracting a foreign loan.
