As regards the new Washington administration and the future of the Romanian-American ties, Vierita said that „The US will remain what it is.”
„The US will remain what it is and Romania has a strategic partnership formally signed on paper in 1997, who gain substance in political, military and economic terms,” the Ambassador explained.
As regards the economic cooperation, V ierita said that „we live a time of crisis and this is a supplementary challenge. But there are American investments in Romania and we are trying to draw even more investors. Ford is the most famous success story.
And I’m glad that, though we are at a time of crisis, trade has not dropped as much as we have expected,” Vierita said.
In this respect, he said that at the end of June, Romanian-American trade stood at almost 800 million dollars, while total trade in 2008 accounted for 2.1-2.2 billion dollars.
