‘I appealed to reason, responsibility and to the avoidance of escalation of a situation that might lead to brutal economic crisis with disastrous effects on Romania’s economic and social estate.
I am convinced that the intention of the Romanian prime minister it is not the escalation of the current political situation towards the crack of the current coalition, but rather the finding of laws useful to the Romanian society,’ the leader of the Social Democratic Party said in the Senate, after a meeting at Victoria Palace (the headquarters of the Romanian Government) with president of the Democrat Liberal Party (PD-L), PM Emil Boc.
Geoana pointed out that in order for the laws on education to be debated in parliament and possibly amended, respite is needed.
Mircea Geoana also said that he was convinced that PM Emil Boc received the PSD message and has the same interest, of seeing how does the current cabinet work.’
Presidents of PD-L and PSD met in an urgent meeting at Victoria Palace to discuss about the Government’s assuming responsibility for the laws on education.
Prior to this meeting, taking place at the headquarters of the Social Democratic Party was an informal meeting of the party’s leaders on the Government’s assuming responsibility for the laws on education.
Social-democrat sources told Agerpres that the PSD leader Mircea Geoana was mandated for the meeting with the prime minister to announce that social-democrats remained consistent in supporting the Government’s assuming responsibility for Andronescu Code.
