Finance Ministry sells benchmark bonds worth some 226 million lei

Ministry of Public Finance on Thursday placed on the market benchmark state bonds due in 5 years and drew from the market as many as 225.96 million lei at an average yield of 9.91 percent a year and an average price of 103.68%, according to information sent by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

The Public Finance rejected the buying offers submitted by commercial banks for the issue of benchmark bonds with a price level below 103.35%.
The issue of treasury bonds had an overall value of 950 million lei, whilst the coupon rate stands at 11 percent.

The banks’ overall offer was of 1.72 billion lei. The nominal value of benchmark bond is of 10,000 lei.

Submitting buying offers of treasury bonds were 13 primary dealers – Alpha bank Romania, BRD – Groupe Societe Generale, Banca Comerciala Carpactica (BCC), Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR), Transilvania Bank, Bancpost, CEC bank, Citibank Romania, ING, MKB Romextrra, Raiffeisen Bank, RBS Bank Romania and UniCredit Tiriac Bank.
