Geoana: PSD does not want start of political crisis by quitting rule

The Social-Democratic Party, PSD, does not want the start of a political crisis, which will deepen the economic situation, by quitting the ruling, said, on Thursday, president of PSD Mircea Geoana, at the end of a meeting of the National Executive Committee of this party held at Calinesti, Arges county, southern Romania.

According to Geoana, if the Executive and the prime minister want the keeping of the current rule, PSD is ready to continue to invest in this political project.

„If something else is wanted and the current president wants to change this Government and the incumbent prime minister wants this too, I must put it directly that I discourage this kind of schemes (…)

At this moment, responsibility and lucidity have to be the watchwords. It is evident for us that the current president wants to find a scapegoat for the economic and social crisis and wants it to be the PSD.

He added that there is the intention, and that, in the perspective of the presidential elections, the main ministries in charge of the election „have to be filled by those close to the president.”

As regards the assuming of responsibility by the Government, Mircea Geoana announced that he empowered the ministers of Education and Labour to continue, at high speed, the consultations with the social partners, so that not to send to Parliament „the result of a night work.”

It is hard to believe that, in a few hours time, a balance can be found between the laws of Education or that of the uniform salary.

The alliance between PSD and the Conservative Party, PC, keeps for itself the right to bring to Parliament the necessary corrections and I am convinced that the prime minister will be open to this kind of debates,” said the PSD leader.
