PSD chief Geoana: Parliament will establish the extent of debates on the laws for which Gov’t will assume responsibility
‘The prime minister has submitted to Parliament a letter in which responsibility is assumed for some laws that are not ready yet.
That means work is still needed on the laws, and they will be submitted to the standing bureaus, where the extent and the deadlines for the debates will be established. It is the exclusive right of Parliament and there are no limitative terms.
Things could turn in another direction if a party or more parties table a motion of censure, but Parliament’s sovereign right is to make sure enough time is set aside for the debates to take place.
We will make a final decision at the standing bureaus, but it will not be a matter of two or three days,’ Geoana said on Thursday after a meeting of the PSD National Executive Committee held at Calimanesti, Arges County.
He said he is convinced that the prime minister does not want a ‘crooked’ Education Code or solutions that would deepen the crisis, and all that means constructive and rational amendments from all the parties and the social partners will be gladly welcomed by Prime Minister Boc.
‘It is somehow difficult to believe that a coherent form may be reached at one o’clock in the morning after seven-eight hours of talks in the Government. All the rest is politics and political politics and I am only interested in what laws we pass,’ said Geoana.
He added that he entrusted PSD MPs with drawing up a set of legislative initiatives that will cover first of all the housing stock, as well as maintenance bills and other social aspects.
The economic board of the Social Democratic Party + Conservative Party (PSD+PC) electoral alliance has been entrusted with seeking an agreeable solution in the banking system with the involvement of the Government.
