The meeting starts Friday, with discussions about the Middle East and the peace process and continues Saturday with debates on the recent evolutions in Afghanistan and Pakistan and the EU role in the region.
Also approached will be the strengthening of the EU role as a global player, which is one of the Swedish presidency’s priorities.
The issue of the EU neighboring countries will be tackled at a working breakfast, attended also by the foreign ministers of the EU candidate countries.
Minister Diaconescu will deliver a speech at a conference on the Eastern Partnership, about the importance of putting into practice this initiative, at the same time with the regional cooperation initiatives under way, such as the Black Sea Synergy.
The conference is organized by the Stockholm International Peace Research institute, the Swedish Foreign Ministry and Romania’s Embassy in Stockholm.
