Romania needs investments in tourism, says minister Elena Udrea

Tourism Minister Elena Udrea on Friday inaugurated the execution works of tourist mini port of Sfantu Gheorghe (Tulcea county) of the Danube Delta (south¬erast).

Together with county authorities, the minister has visited the place of the investment that next year will provide around 120 boat dock places.
The visit continued along the pontoon of Deltacons stock company with a short press conference during which the minister pointed out the importance of this investment.

‘We are participating at the first shipyard inauguration from those funded by the Tourism Ministry for public local authorities who carry out projects in the tourism sector.

I am used to having promises and when I was told one month ago that the investment will be made I was skeptical at the beginning. Romania needs investments in tourism,’ said tourism minister Elena Udrea.

The works at the mini port have started one week ago, according to the manager of Deltacons Mihai Stroe. At present the workers are conducting dredging works. Stroe said the works will be carried out within 8 months and will be guaranteed for 2 years.

The building of the miniport of Sfantu Gheorghe is part of the national tourism subprogramme ‘Balanced and integrated development of tourist area of the Danube Delta and Black Sea resorts’ through which the Tourism Ministry will finance the beach maintenance at the Black Sea in Sulina and the miniport of Murighiol.

The overall value of contract of execution works for the building of the miniport is of 27,333,443 lei, TVA included.
