The singer Antonino, from Italy, is the winner of the 2009 edition of the Golden Stag, with the song „September, Monday”, composed by Horia Brenciu and „Un ultimo brivido.”
„Thank you all”, were the only words that Antonio told the audience, visibly overwhelmed by winning the trophy worth 10,000 euros.
The Silver Stag worth 7,000 euros went to the Romanian bank „The Marker” winner of the 2008 national competition of „the Battle of the Band”.
„Ovi of Norway is the winner of the „bronze Stag” worth 5,000 euros and of a 3,000 euro popularity prize. „This is a great surprise.
Anything I’ll do next in my career will be as if I had won the Golden Stag,” Ovi said at his 2nd participation in the festival.
The prize of the jury, of 3,000 euros, went to Glen Vella of Malta.
American guitarist Steve Vai won an excellency prize for his entire career offered by the president of the jury Dida Dragan. The other prizes were awarded by Dumitru Morosanum, Stefan Gheorghiu, Michael Lally and Antero Paivalainen, all jury members.
Geta Burlacu, from Moldova, Jasmine of Romania, Laura of Finland, Ori Piaf of Israel and Orlin Pavlov of Bulgaria were among finalists.
The jury was made up of Nuno Figueira (Portuguese TV producer), David Lowen (member of the Royal television Society board), Michael Lally (CIRCOM president), Paula Seling (singer, winner of the Golden Stag 2002), Vic Vergeat (guitarist and vocalist), Dida Dragan (singer), Alfredo Tisocco (Crams Music Italy president), Dumitru Morosanu (Modus Production president), Stefan Gheorghiu (CREDIDAM president), Jeroen Depraetere (founder of the Flamand TV acaemy) and Antero Paivalainen (musician and producer with Taurus Music).
