idn’t expect Romania to become a shopping centre so fast
Isarescu, who addressed a symposium staged by the BNR, said the economic growth began in September 1999, when the industrial output grew.
He cited ‘the boom of Carrefour stores and hypermarkets’, given that the Romanians had used to be recognized in airports by the plastic bags full of shopped merchandise.
‘I didn’t expect Romania to become a shopping centre so fast’, he added.
Nevertheless, the governor said that in spite of such positive changes, ‘Romania has not entirely given itself up to the passion for consumption’.
