Trade deficit of 4.86 billion euros, in 7 months

Romania’s FOB-CIF trade deficit stood at 4.86 billion euros, in the first seven months of 2009, or 20.58 billion lei, by 27.54 billion lei, or some 8.3 billion euros, lower than in the same period of 2008.

In the first seven months of this year, the FOB exports stood at 69.15 billion lei, or around 1.63 billion euros, and the CIF imports at 89.73 billion lei, or around 21.21 billion euros.).

In comparison with the same period of last year, the exports fell 6.7 percent for values expressed in lei, or 19.4 percent for values expressed in euros, and the imports fell 26.6 percent for values expressed in lei, or 36.6 percent for values expressed in euros.

The value of the inter-community exchanges of goods from Jan 1 to July 31, 2009 stood at 51.38 billion lei, or around 12.15 billion euros, for shipments, and from 65.78 billion lei, or some 15.56 billion euros, for entries, representing 74.3 percent of the total of exports, and 73.3 percent of the total of imports.

In the first seven months of this year, important quotas in the structure of exports and imports were reported for the following groups of products: transport equipment (42 percent for export and 32.8 percent for import) and other manufactured products (35.5 percent for export and 32.1 percent for import respectively.)
