First international golf tournament in Romania to be held at Breaza

Romanian Golf Federation is organising the Romanian Open Amateurs Championship, the first international golf tournament in Romania, September 18-20, on the course of the Lac de Verde club of Breaza, north-west of Bucharest.

Nearly 40 players from Romania and abroad are expected to compete refereed by Swiss professional golf player Gerwin Feldner.
Among the Romanian players having announced their participation in the tournament are tennis players Dinu Pescariu and Florn Segarceanu, businessman Viorel Catarama and actor Lucian Viziru, all avid golf players.

‘This tournament is a very important step for Romanian golf getting recognised in the world. The Romanian Golf Federation has always supported the participation of Romanian players in international contests and we are glad that we can, in our turn, welcome players from all around the world that are passionate about the same sport, that is golf,’ says Chair of the Romanian Golf Federation Daniela Asanache.

Another important step to be taken by the federation to advertise the Romanian golf in the world is the Transylvanian Amateurs Championship, to be held September 25-27, at the Pianu de Jos club, Alba County, refereed by Dietrich Von Garn of Germany.

The Romanian Golf Federation, established since September 2004, is made up of eight clubs and sport associations. In its five years of existence, the federation has organised numerous demo lessons in golf and assisted Romanian golf players who competed abroad. One of its main objectives is supporting the inclusion of the golf among the Olympic Games disciplines.
