Second Romanian-Italian governmental meeting scheduled for after January 15, 2010

A second Romanian-Italian governmental meeting to be attended by the prime ministries of the two countries and a great part of the ministries from the two countries’ cabinets, has been scheduled to take place in Romania after January 15, 2010, according to a joint announcement on Wednesday by Romanian PM Emil Boc and Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi.

‘We have agreed that the second governmental meeting of the two governments will be hosted by Romania after January 15,’ Berlusconi told a joint news conference of the two prime ministers. A first meeting of the two governments happened in October 2008 in Rome.
Berlusconi pointed out that the high-level dialogue between Romania and Italy will continue with him meeting Romanian President Traian Basescu in Brussels on the sideline of an EU extraordinary summit.

He said that his meeting with Boc was a very good opportunity to get in line their positions on things that are to be discussed in Brussels. Today’s interesting conversation, he said, confirmed our stances on bilateral and European relations. Berlusconi also said he will have another opportunity to meet Boc again at a convention this November of the Central European Initiative.

PM Boc underscored the ‘pragmatic and efficient’ character of his dialogue with Berlusconi, pointing to what he says is a privileged relationship between Romania and Italy at a political, social and cultural level.

The meeting of the two prime ministers outlasted by one hour the official schedule, and ended with a joint news conference where journalists were the two took no question from journalists.
