Corlatean and Puscas approach portfolios of future Commission

President of the Committee on foreign policy of the Senate, social-democrat Titus Corlatean and Chief of the Department for Foreign Affairs, Vasile Puscas, on Thursday had a meeting at the headquarters of the Senate with British Conservative MP Mark Francois. The talks also tackled the support for Romania’s obtaining a portfolio of European commissioner in the future structure of the European Commission, reads a release.

Also approached was the issue of the Republic of Moldova’s future political developments, with emphasis of a more consistent presence in the eastern area and the importance of extending a more active support for the pro-European majority in Chisinau.

In the outlook of the European Union’s relations with the states that have vocation of being integrated, the sides discussed about the importance of EU’s continuing the enlargement process with the Republic of Moldova and the Western Balkans. The officials talked about the bilateral relations and the economy, political and social field.
The British MP Mark Francois is designated minister of European Affairs within the shadow government of the Conservative Party.
