During the meeting for the setting up of the Inter- parliamentary delegation of the European Parliament with the Republic of Moldova, Romanian MP Monica Macovei was elected in the position of president of this delegation from the European Parliament, EP, said a press release.
Macovei was proposed for this position by the group of the European People’s Party.
„As a president, I will encourage and support the reforms, in the interest of the Republic of Moldova and of the Moldovan people, ” said the European MP immediately after the taking over of the leadership of the delegation.
Macovei stressed that she will back up the Moldovan authorities for the fulfillment of their commitment regarding the European integration of the Republic of Moldova and that she will represent the position of the European Parliament.
The next event of the Delegation is a joint meeting with the Commission for foreign affairs of the European Parliament, due on Sept 28, in Brussels. On the agenda, there are talks with vice- minister for foreign affairs and European integration of the Republic of Moldova Natalia Gherman. Monica Macovei is a member of the Committee for civil rights, justice and civil freedom and of the committee for budget control and an alternating member in the Committee for constitutional affairs.
