The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) firmly condemned the actions taken by the Al-Shabaab Islamic militias and on Tuesday asked the international community to take concrete steps in support of the Transitional Federal Government in Somalia with a view to stabilizing the political situation in this country.
„MAE is worried to take note of the two suicide attacks in the general headquarters of the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) in Mogadiscio, which led to the death of at least 16 military on this mission of the African Union, one of them being the deputy commander of the force, Burundian General Juvenal Niyonguruza,” reads a release of the above-mentioned institution.
MAE also condemns firmly the terrorist attacks organized by the Al-Shabaab Islamic militias and asks the international community, especially the African Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development and the neighbouring states to take concrete steps in support of the Transitional Federal Government in Somalia with a view to stabilizing the political situation in this country.
Appreciating the efforts made by AMISOM for pacifying Somalia, MAE hails the decision made by the heads of the mission to go on fulfilling the tasks devolving on them from the mandate they received.
Twelve Burundian soldiers of the peacekeeping force of the African Union in Somalia were killed in the attack made in Mogadiscio on Thursday.
