ForMin Diaconescu meets with members of Romanian community living in New York

Romanian Foreign Minister Cristian Diaconescu met with the Romanian employees of Romania’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations and with the members of the Romanian community living in New York, informs the release the Romanian Ministry for Foreign Affairs (MAE) sent on Thursday.

Romania’s top diplomat praised the professional qualities of the Romanian employees with Romania’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations and congratulated them for their posts. Likewise, the meeting was a good opportunity to talk about the latest developments at home and the professional topics of common interest.

Romania has reached a moment when it needs all its citizens, ForMin Diaconescu stressed during his meeting with the Romanian community, and called everybody to solidarity and commitment.

‘Romania needs all its Romanian citizens, no matter if they live at home or they settled abroad, for good, or temporarily. The solidarity spirit has a practical utility, at the moment, namely Romania is a full member of the civilized world, but at the same time, it has been experiencing an economic crisis, which it can overcome by the support of us all,’ ForMin Diaconescu stressed, during his talk with the Romanians living in New York.

Foreign Minister Cristian Diaconescu also answered questions on several topics of common interest that the participants in the meeting asked, as for instance about the developments in the Republic of Moldova and the Romanians living in Timoc. ForMin Diaconescu is in New York where he has been attending the 64th session of the UN General Assembly.
