The motion of censure called ‘The Democratic-Liberal Party (PD-L) – Social Democratic Party (PSD) Government have decided: instead of working in vain, better work less and bad,’ tabled by the opposition National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) has been rejected on Thursday, with 137 votes „against”, 112 „in favor”, announced Senate’s Secretary Cornel Popa.

He pointed out that a number of 348 MPs were present. But the number of expressed votes totaled 251, two being declared void.
„According to Art. 113, paragraph 1 of the Constitutions, the censure motion is adopted by the vote of the majority of deputies and senators, namely 236”, explained Popa.

As a result, PNL and UDMR no-confidence motion tabled after the Government assumed responsibility on the public sector wage bill was not adopted because it had just 112 votes in favor.

Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Roberta Anastase announced that the unified wage bill in the public sector was forwarded to the Secretariat general and the MPs have the opportunity to express, for two days, their right to notify the Constitutional Court in connection with this bill.

During the debates on Thursday, in the Parliament’s plenary, the Social Democratic Party (P SD, in ruling coalition) announced its members will not take part in the voting and the Democrat Liberal Party (PD-L, in ruling coalition) that its members will cast „an open” vote, despite Democrat Liberal deputy Ioan Oltean having maintained that his party MPs will not participate in the voting, either.
