INSOMAR poll: Mircea Geoana gets 43.3 percent of votes in Oltenia

Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Mircea Geoana is said to get 43.3 percent of the votes cast in Oltenia (historical province in southern Romania) at the presidential election in autumn, according to a poll conducted by INSOMAR over June 25-July 22, which was made public on Friday by head of the PSD Valcea County organization Ion Cilea in a press release.

According to the above-mentioned sociological research, which was carried out in 12 towns and cities and 25 rural places in the Counties of Mehedinti, Dolj, Gorj, Olt and Valcea, second comes current Head of State Traian Basescu, 27 percent of the votes, followed by chairman of the National Liberal Party Crin Antonescu, 14.2 percent, and leader of the Greater Romania Party Corneliu Vadim Tudor, 13.7 percent.

According to the press release mentioned before, the sociological research indicates the fact that 51.6 percent of the interviewed persons say that, in order to get out of the crisis, the Government should help the crisis affected population, 50.8 percent said that taxes and charges should be cut and 45.9 percent said that prices should be reduced.

When asked the question „Which of the reproaches made to Traian Base scu do you think are well deserved?”, 68.3 percent of the respondents to the INSOMAR poll answered that the current President used the power to help his family and friends, 64.7 percent reproached the Head of State with continuously changing his opinion, 64.3 percent think that Traian Basescu caused conflicts among state institutions and 63.3 percent opine that the Head of State behaved in a way that is unsuitable for a President.

The sample of the INSOMAR poll included 1,200 people and has a 2.8 percent error margin.
