Red Cross starts Food Bank project

The Romanian Red Cross started Food Bank project, at the Carrefour Orhidea Supermarket, in Bucharest, on Sunday. The project is aimed at helping the people ailing with lack of food.
Attending the event, inter alia were the Romanian Red Cross president Mihaela Geoana, the project’s initiator the famous Romania pop singer Magareta Paslaru.

BCR CoE Dominic Bruynseel is the first banker in Romania, who made a donation to the Food Bank.
The Romanian Red Cross also launched the project in counties such as Arges, Arad, Bacau, Braila, Brasov, Buzau, Cluj, Constanta, Iasi, Bihor, Sibiu, Suceava and Vrancea.

The Food Bank represents an immediate solution to support the people without or with very small incomes. The project is an initiative of the Romanian Red Cross taken over from the similar projects successfully developed in the EU countries, in US and Canada.

It involves collecting staples in the Red Cross warehouses by donations and subsidizes and distributing them to the vulnerable people in Bucharest and throughout Romania.
