„We are trying to avoid a political crisis in Romania, if that’s possible,” Geoana said, when asked whether his party is planning to negotiate with other parties, in case talks with the Liberal Democrats reach a complete deadlock.
The PSD spokesman Bogdan Niculescu Duvaz summoned PM Emil Boc in a press conference to reconsider his decision of dismissing deputy PM Dan Nica, or take full responsibility for the political crisis triggered by it.
In her turn, Education Minister Ecaterina Andronescu said that the Social Democrats did not want o generate a crisis within the Govt, so a „mass resignation” was out of the question.
„For now we are assessing the situation. We are trying to avoid a governmental crisis at such a hard time for the country and whoever does that must take responsibility for it,” the PSD minister said.
Asked if the Social Democrats are planning to call on President Basescu to mediate the situation Andronescu avoided to talk about PSD’s decision in this respect and only answered that „the president has the role to mediate a crisis situation such as this one, and everybody has to take their role seriously.”
