Project Nabucco, approached by PM with Azerbaijan’s president

The signing of the Declaration on the establishment of a strategic partnership between Romania and the Republic of Azerbaijan will give a new impetus to the political and economic cooperation between the two states, said PM Emil Boc on Monday at the meeting with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

At the talks between the two senior officials, the Romanian premier Emil Boc stressed the positive ties between the two countries, following a prolific high-level dialogue, reads a news release issued by the Government’s press office.

A major issue of the agenda of talks between the two officials was Nabucco project, with PM Emil Boc and Azerbaijan’s president having agreed on the major importance of Nabucco gas pipeline in ensuring energy security at European level.

PM Boc pointed out that Romania will further endorse Azerbaijan in its process of getting close to the European structures, stressing in this respect the importance of capitalization of opportunities provided by the Eastern Partnership.

Participating in the meeting held at Victoria Palace were Economy Minister Adriean Videanu, Minister of Communications and Information Society Gabriel Sandu and Ambassador of Romania to the Republic Azerbaijan, Nicolae Ureche.
