80 million euros for maintaining motorways

The National Company for Motorways and National Roads in Romania (CNADNR) will first put up for tender the maintenance of the motorways connecting Bucharest to Cernavoda, A2 (south-eastern Romania), Bucharest to Pitesti, A1 (southern Romania), and of the ring road of Pitesti, 281 km in all, over 2009-2012, the total value of the contracts amounting to 78 million euros, VAT excluded, informs daily Ziarul Financiar.

The companies will clear snow from streets, will do maintenance work, will ensure guard and protection, will clean and mark the motorways and roads.
CNADNR will organize two tenders with a view to concluding some framework agreements with one single company in order to maintain streets. The criterion will be the lowest price, the bids are to be opened on October 27 for A2 and on October 28 for A1.

Over January 1-September 15 there were 40 serious accidents on the two motorways, which ended in 20 dead and 36 seriously injured, their number being on the decrease as against the similar time span last year, according to the information supplied by the Road Police.
