The unemployment rate recorded an increase by 0.2 percent in October, up to 7.1 percent, compared with 6.9 percent in September and 4 percent in the similar month a year before, according to data released by the National Employment Agency (ANOFM).
According to the abovesaid source, the total number of unemployed registered at the county agencies stood at 653,939 people in October, among whom 288,556 were women.
ANOFM specified that from the total number of unemployed nationwide, 374,209 were still receiving the unemployment benefits while 279,730 were not. The unemployment rate among women stood at 6.8 percent in October 2009.
