TAROM to open Belgrade flight on December 7

Romania’s national air carrier TAROM will open a new route on December 7, 2009 that will link Bucharest to Belgrade, the company reports.
TAROM will operate three direct flights a week from Bucharest to Belgrade, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, abroad an ATR 42-500 plane. The flight takes one hour and 40 minutes.

‘The decision to open a new Bucharest-Belgrade route was taken following market surveys conducted by a TAROM marketing team indicating an important traffic potential. Diversifying the flight network is part of TAROM’s strategy to turn Bucharest City into a hub, a connection point between East and West ahead of the company’s accession to the Sky Team Alliance in June 2010,’ says TAROM Sales and Marketing Manager Gabriela Bordea.

In the 2009/2010 winter, TAROM will be flying 49 destinations in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. In 2009, TAROM opened 11 new direct flights: to Amsterdam, Bari, Dubrovnik (for the summer season), Lyon, Geneva, Salzburg (for the winter season), Strasbourg, Venice, Zurich, Budapest and Belgrade.
TAROM’s fleet comprises 26 Boeing, Airbus and ATR aircraft.
