Romania represented at COP 15 in Copenhagen, on Dec. 15 and 16

Romania is to be represented at the United Nations Climate Change Conference Copenhagen 2009, organized in the period Dec. 7 through 18, by two representatives of the Commission for public administration, territory management and ecological balance (CAPATEE) and by a member of the Romanian Parliament Delegation with the Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly (PACE).

As such, on behalf of CAPATEE Sulfina Barbu (president) and Attila Korodi (secretary) will take part in the meeting of the Sub-committee for durable development within the Committee for environment, agriculture, local and regional issues of PACE, on Dec. 15 and 16, 2009, and on behalf of Romania’a Parliamentary Delegation to PACE by deputy Iosif Blaga.

For two weeks Copenhagen is to host the 15th session of the United Nations Climate Change Conference Copenhagen 2009 (COP 15). In the context of this Summit works, on Dec. 16, the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) in partnership with the Danish Parliament will organize a parliamentary meeting with the goal to secure an adequate framework of interaction between parliamentarians and governmental negotiators directly involved into the decision process at this conference, of some updated information referring to the IPU adopted recommendations or parliamentary actions on climatic changes, as well as the opportunity to exchange views referring to the parliamentary dimension of COP 15 results evaluation.

The following major meeting on climate issues after the summit in Denmark will take place in Mexico, in December next year.
