Over 60,700 MAI employees in missions for presidential elections’ runoff

Over 60,700 employees with the Ministry of Administration and Interior (MAI) will be covering missions on Sunday during the presidential elections’ runoff.
According to the MAI, 32,434 of them are with the Police, 12,128 gendarmes, 3,872 are with the Border Police, 6,360 with the Emergency Situations General Inspectorate (IGSU), 601 with other structures, and 1,383 with the tuition units of the MAI. Likewise, these activities include some 4,209 community police forces.

The missions of the MAI forces consist in watching the poll stations (33,970 people), assuring the public order (18,057). From the public order reserve are some 4,547 forces. As regards the public order maintenance about 3,040 students with the MAI tuition institutions participate in support (1,090 from the Al. I. Cuza Police Academy, 2,400 from the Campina Police Agents School and 450 from the Cluj Police Agents School).

On the election day, the Romanian Police will stage individually and together with the Romanian Road Authority about 842 checking-filters in order to prevent electoral tourism.

The ministry assures the population that it will act with firmness against any kind of violation of the law and will be unbiased regardless of the identity of those who will break the legal norms in force. Likewise, the MAI recommends all the citizens to observe the law and call 112 if any electoral regulations infringement occur.
