Geoana about PNL announcement: Our stance remains unchanged regarding PSD+PC – PNL-UDMR majority

The Social Democrats’ stance remains unchanged regarding the adequacy of setting up a majority made up of the Alliance of the Social Democratic Party and the Conservative Party (PSD+PC) with the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR), PSD President Mircea Geoana said on Monday after the Liberals’ announcement on the adoption of a resolution whereby there is the possibility to back up an independent prime minister.

‘It is the decision by our Liberal colleagues, which we respect. Our stance remains unchanged – we think that the PSD+PC – PNL – UDMR majority is the most necessary and useful, at the moment, and it is also operational,’ the PSD leader underscored. At the same time, Mircea Geoana reaffirmed that PNL President Crin Antonescu would be an excellent Prime Minister and would have all the qualities and the political support to head Romania’s Government, at a very difficult moment.

‘Otherwise, we will talk about the developments after we find out the answer to the question who Romania’s president is,’ Geoana pointed out. The members of the PNL Standing Delegation, on Monday, adopted a resolution mandating the negotiating team to find a solution for emerging from the political crisis.
