MAE marks 20th anniversary since fall of communism regime in Romania

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) on Friday is going to host a symposium titled ‘RO 20: Romania 1989-2009’, marking the 20th anniversary since the fall of the communist regime in Romania, occasion on which Romanian and foreign diplomats and also journalists will refer to their own visions of the 1989 Revolution.

The participants will also be able to watch a short film on the same topic, titled ‘The Romanian Revolution Through the Eyes of the French Mass Media’, which was offered by the French Embassy in Bucharest.

Moreover, the representative of the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest Jeri Guthrie-Corn is going to offer a foreign diplomat’s perspective on the Romanian Revolution, while the French Ambassador Henri Paul will talk about how the French media presented in his country the events during the December 1989 Revolution in Romania.

Secretary of State with MAE Bogdan Mazuru is going to speak about Romania’s track over 1989- 2009 and to present a thematic blog RO 20. Sociologist Silviu Matei from the CSOP is going to speak about the main social trends seen in the Romanian society in the latest 20 years. The participants to the symposium would be able to watch also a photographic montage with images, surprising the most important moments during the Romanian Revolution.
