Visa Waiver is a goal for U.S. and for Romania (U.S. diplomat)

The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) is a goal both for the United States of America and for Romania, but Romania does not yet meet all the requirements to enter this program, U.S. Consul General in Romania James B. Gray said in the central Targu Mures city on Tuesday.

Visa is a goal for the USA and for Romania. We hope it will happen, but some time must pass, because there are requirements that must be met and still aren’t. I could not say in how many years. There are many countries that want to be in the program, like Poland and Bulgaria, as well as good friends of the United States, like Romania, but they do not get the program, Gray said.

He explained that the law needs to be changed in order to forge an agreement between the European Union and the United States in this respect, since the current law is strictly between countries, not between the USA and a world organisation.
Related to the VISA applications in general, we wait for the Romanians in the U.S. and we ask everybody to pay attention to the instructions already existing on the web site related to the information they should present in order to show they are qualified for the visa, James B. Gray stressed.
