Ministries of environment, culture, health and vice-premier’s post go to UDMR

Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) president Marko Bela told the plenary meeting of the Council of Union Representatives (CRU) in Targu Mures (central Romania), on Friday, that during the negotiations with the Democratic Liberal Party (PD-L) for the new government, UDMR received the ministries of the environment, the culture and the health and a vice-premier post.

Marko Bela stressed that among the UDMR objectives of its future participation in the ruling is the law on national minorities, the law on education with a likely decentralization, re-thinking of Romania’s eight development regions and re-dividing them in 15-16 regions.
Among UDMR targets in order to accept the ruling it will also be resolving the problem of the UDMR professionals of the de-concentrated institutions and the higher education taught in Hungarian.

Marko Bela thinks that the four ministerial posts are an extremely good result, taking into account that the future Boc Government will not have more than 16-17 members, the Prime Minister included, and called the CRU members not to judge emotionally the decision of joining the ruling or of remaining in the opposition, but to think it from the perspective of the interest.
