There were ten films from ten countries that competed for the Golden Bull trophy, which has been won this year by the above-mentioned Romanian film directed by Corneliu Porumboiu. The film “Police, Adjective” was also awarded the prize of the Association of Turkish Film Critics. The jury regarded “Police, Adjective” as the best film and said that “in order to convey its message the film combines the cinema and verbal power of the language with a subtle intelligence” and awarded it the great trophy, worth 10,000 euros.
The Turkish film critics also motivated their selection of the Romanian film by the fact that the film “demolishes the conventions of the thriller by means of the opposition between the firm and inflexible logic of bureaucracy and the injustice of a police state and presents a visual experience in which the reward comes at the end.”
The award ceremony of the Festival on Wheels was held on December 16 at Artvin, the event being organized by the Cinema Association in Ankara with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Turkey.
