Sebastian Vladescu proposed for Finance Minister – biography
Sebastian Teodor Gheorghe Vladescu was born in Bucharest, on April 3, 1958. He is a graduate of the Commerce Faculty of the Bucharest Academy for Economic Studies (1983). He earned a specialization in direct investments in Merrill Lynch, USA.
He was state secretary of Ministry of Trade and Industry and the ministry’s representative in the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (Jan. – June 1997), an advisor of the Minister of Trade and Industry (July – Dec. 1997), an advisor of the Finance Minister on budget issues and capital markets (Jan. – April 1998) and state secretary (Jan. – Dec. 2000).
He was a Finance Minister in the Calin Popescu-Tariceanu Government, over Aug. 22, 2005, April 3, 2007. Sebastian Vladescu was a member of the National Liberal Party (PNL) over 1998-2002. He speaks French, English and Italian.
