Mihail Dumitru gets nod for Agriculture Minister

Mihail Dumitru on Tuesday received the nod of approval of the Parliament’s expert committees to take over the portfolio of Agriculture and Rural Development in the new Emil Boc ruling line-up.

Dumitru obtained 58 favorable votes and one abstention. The four commissions total 80 members, of whom 58 are deputies and 22 Senators, but only 59 members attended the hearings.

Dumitru was heard by the Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, Food Industry and Specific services and the Committee on Public administration, Territory planning and Environmental balance of the Chamber of Deputies, as well as by the Senate’s Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development and the Commission for Public administration, Territory planning and Environmental protection.
Since September 2006 Mihail Dumitru has been negotiator-coordinator of the Rural Development Program for Romania within the European Commission’s Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development.
