Finance Ministry sells discount T-bills worth 785.5M lei

The Public Finance Ministry (MFP) attracted on Monday over 785.508 million lei through issuing discount treasury bills auctioned at Romania’s Central Bank (BNR).
The T-bills have the maturity period at 6 months and the issue’s average yield was auctioned at 10 percent and the average level of the discount rate was 9.52 percent.
The issue totaled 500 million lei and the 13 bidding banks asked T-bills worth 1.255 billion lei, in all.

Thirteen primary dealers, namely Alpha Bank Romania, BRD – Groupe Societe Generale, Banca Comerciala Carpatica (BCC), Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR), Banca Transilvania, Bancpost, CEC Bank, Citibank Romania, ING, MKB Romexterra, Raiffeisen Bank, RBS Bank Romania and UniCredit Tiriac Bank, made bids.

MFP staged auctions for T-bills and bonds worth 4.8 billion lei, in Dec 2009, after it had attracted about 1.72 billion lei, from the market, in November. The Ministry attracted round 59.9 billion lei from the market in the first 11 months of 2009, compared to 12.5 billion lei, as it scored over the whole 2008 year.
