Non-governmental loans scale back 0.2 pct

The non-governmental loans balance, granted by credit institutions, lowered 0.2 percent (-0.8 percent in real terms) in November this year from October this year, to the level of 200.871 billion lei, Romania’s National Bank (BNR) announced on Monday.

Lei-denominated loans inched up 0.2 percent (-0.5 percent in real terms), whereas foreign currency-denominated loans decreased 0.4 percent when expressed in lei, but rose by 0.1 percent when expressed in euros.

On November 30, 2009 the non-government loans climbed year on year by 2.9 percent (-1.6 percent in real terms) from November 30, 2008 on the back of the 10.3 percent increase in foreign currency-denominated loans expressed in lei (when expressed in EUR, forex loans dropped 2.4 percent) and the 6.5 percent reduction in lei-denominated loans (down 10.7 percent in real terms).
