Draft budget of Transport and Infrastructure Ministry set at 10.86 bln lei
According to the cited document, the financing sources and the share thereof in total earmarks are structured as follows: state budget – 92.19 percent, foreign loans – 1.58 percent, external non- reimbursable funds – 6.23 percent. The bulk of the amount, specifically 8.8 billion lei (about 2 billion euros) will be directed towards getting the national transport system (rail, road, naval and air transport) in line with the European system.
For 2010, the implementation of the Sectoral Operational Program on Transport (SOPT) wherein MTI acts as Management Authority provides: the further carrying into effect of approved of financing applications (the Constanta-Cernavoda highway, the Constanta city bypass) and the approval of major projects: the Nadlac-Arad highway, the Orastie-Sibiu highway, the Lugoj-Deva highway, the Timisoara-Lugoj highway, the revamping of the Curtici-Radna railway, the upgrading of the national Road DN 6 Alexandria-Craiova.
Financing for the Sectoral Operational Program on Transport is set in 2010 at 729.6 32 million euros from the Cohesion Fund (515.554 million euros) and the European Regional Development Fund (214.078 million euros).
