As many as 17 high schools in the northern Botosani County, the south-eastern Constana County and the central Harghita County have temporarily closed because of bitterly cold weather, according to a report of the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sports (MECTS) drawn up on data from county school inspectorates.
Classes will be rescheduled. Under the education regulations in force, under special circumstances, such as natural calamities, extreme weather or floods, county school inspectorates are to make decisions in accordance with the situations reported by schools, MECTS reports.
