PM Boc: Outcomes of Nov. 22, 2009 referendum need to be put into practice

The political class cannot be left aside the country’s modernization process and to this end, the current parliamentary session must pave the way towards putting into practice the outcomes of the November 22, 2009 referendum, Prime Minister Emil Boc on Monday told the Senate plenary meeting.

“The country’s modernization also means equality before the law and observance of the nondiscrimination and equal opportunities principles (…) The political class cannot be excluded from this modernization process.
Through the referendum, the Romanians expressed themselves in favor of the downsizing of the number of MPs and for a unicameral Parliament. I hope this parliamentary session opens the framework for the Romanians’ choice in the referendum to be put into practice,” said Emil Boc.
