The current pensions system offers no guarantees that there will be the medium- and long-term financial resources required to pay the pensions, Prime Minister Emil Boc told a plenary sitting of the Deputies’ Chamber on Tuesday.

He added that at the present pace there will be no money left in the state budget in a few years, since it will be transferred to the pensions system. ‘Today’s pensions system offers no guarantees that there will be resources on the medium- and long-term, because there are these privileges and discrimination in the system and because it is not based on the principle of contribution.

In 2009, as much as 1.5 billion euros was transferred from the state budget. At this pace, there will be no money left in the state budget in a few years, because it will be transferred to the pensions system’, Boc said. The prime minister stressed that the executive plans to see the pensions bill approved in the current parliamentary session.
