Consultation mechanism between economy ministries from Romania and Bulgaria

State secretary with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Environment Maria Parcalabescu and Deputy minister of economy, energy and tourism from Bulgaria Ivo Marinov have convened the possibility of replacing the joint inter-governmental commission of economic cooperation between the two states with a consultations mechanism at the top level of institutions they represent.

According to a MECMA release, the two officials also discussed, on the occasion of a meeting in Bucharest, the stage of the economic and commercial relations between Romania and Bulgaria and their prospects, in the context of both countries exiting the crisis. As well, during the meeting, the anti-crisis measures taken by Romanian and Bulgarian governments and the intensification of contacts between the two ministries was convened.

The Bulgarian official who coordinates activities of foreign trade and tourism was visiting Romania on the occasion of “Bulgaria – Four Season’s Health, SPA and Wellness Tourism” Forum.
At the end of Oct. 2009, Bulgaria ranked sixth in the top of the destination countries for the Romanian goods, accounting for 3.8 percent of the total exports made by Romania and holding the 12th spot at imports, with a weight of 2.5 percent.
